Plant-Based

What is Plant-Based?

A general term for a diet consisting mostly or entirely of foods derived from plants, including vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and fruits, with little or no animal products.

‘Plant-based’ is a broad, often umbrella term. It refers to any diet that prioritizes foods derived from plants—fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts, and seeds—while minimizing or excluding animal products.

Unlike veganism, which is an ethical stance, ‘plant-based’ can refer purely to a dietary pattern focusing on health, environmental impact, or personal preference. It allows for a spectrum, ranging from those who are mostly vegetarian to those who strictly consume nothing but plants.
