Seitan

What is Seitan?

A chewy, high-protein meat substitute made from hydrated vital wheat gluten (the main protein in wheat).

Seitan is a popular meat substitute made from wheat gluten, the main protein in wheat. Once the starch is washed away, the resulting gluten can be cooked to have a chewy, meat-like texture.

It is exceptionally high in protein and can be flavored in endless ways through savory marinades. Note that it is not suitable for anyone with celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity.
